Mourinho eyes a return, Liverpool’s new target…
Jose – loves it here, apparently
Whilst the lion’s share of the nation nurses a serious wine and cheese hangover, the men who like to write about sport have been busily assembling news stories in between hurried mouthfuls of disgustingly cold sprouts.
According to the depressed journalists in Santa hats who weren’t given time off at The Sun, it looks like Jose Mourinho has finally tired of ruffling feathers over in Italy, and might yet return to these shores. Presumably to manage one of the big boys, making Benitez surely the most likely to be knocked off his perch by the Special One should things continue to go the way of the pear.
Mourinho, maintaining his usual air of staggering humility, said this:
“I want to be back. I’m not the kind of guy to keep his feelings hidden.”
“I have always said the same – I love it here, I love it here, I love it here.”
“I was very successful so it’s normal that other clubs here will want me.”
In other Liverpool-related news, Benitez seems keen to sign Arda Turan from Galatasaray, should he manage to flog Babel, Voronin and the like to raise the cash. You can see Turan in action after the jump.
And elsewhere in the world, Ferguson is hoping that the promise of a Nani switcheroo might tempt Benfica to throw Angel di Maria in the direction of Old Trafford.
Adrian Mutu could yet return to his old London haunts, this time sporting one of those lovely claret tops that West Ham players wear. Birmingham are going to attempt to cash in on their good run by snaffling the former Germany international, Kevin Kuranyi. And David James might join Spurs.
Or he might not.
