Alright, chillax everyone, Neville might not be retiring
Neville – could actually stay for a bit
If you were hiking through the snows in Manchester yesterday, wearing a snug pair of silver moon boots, you might have heard the faint sounds of sobbing coming from inside pubs and from behind wheelie bins. News that Gary Neville might be retiring at the end of the season will have cut some supporters really quite deeply.
It would signal the demise of the “Class of 92″. The same class that featured Ryan Giggs, David Becksie, Nicky Butt, and the most silent of assassins, Paul Scholes.
But worry not.
News from today’s Telegraph suggests that it was all just a storm in a teacup, and that the marginally more handsome of the Neville sisters mightn’t call time on his dramatic career just yet.
Speaking out on behalf of his favourite Christian Bale in The Machinist-alike, Sir Alex Ferguson said this:
“There has not been a decision about Gary Neville.”
“Why make a decision about his future when we don’t need to? You don’t make decisions like that in the middle of a season.”
“It is a load on nonsense.”
And with that, a relieved silence descended on the hills of Manchester.
Presumably.
