Transfer Talk

Transfer news: City and United both fancy Buffon, and more…

“Hmmm, City or United?”

Contrary to opinion, The Spoiler is not bulletproof. Feelings can be hurt, criticism can cut deep, and evenings can be spent weeping into a pillow – hungry, alone, and a bit thirsty. One such night happened last night, when this comment (from someone called “R”) appeared under a transfer story, making reference to the site’s penchant for finding new ways to repeat the same joke.

“alright that monday thing about the sports writers was kinda funny the first time you used it but please stop using it every week. please be creative and think up some new jokes.”

So rather than attempt anything in the way of repetitive observational humour to introduce today’s transfer stories – from the likes of The Telegraph, The Daily Mail, The Sun, and others – in honour of “R” (who may or may not have just ruined it for everyone), we’ll keep it simple. Ahem… here are some stories in list form:

Man United and Man City are both rumoured to be interested in having a stab at landing Gianluigi Buffon from Juventus, after the Al Pacino in Frankie and Johnny lookalike hinted that it might be time to have a crack at playing footie somewhere else.

In other Man City news, it looks as though Robinho’s flaccid exit might yet be even limper than expected, with a loan move back to Brazil the most likely option. And the club’s innitial £12million bid for Real Madrid’s Fernando Gago has been turned down, meaning that the men in robes will need to rummage deeper into their shiny purses if they really want their man.

Sticking with today’s trend for Manchester updates, the word is that Rooney won’t be going to sunny Spain after all – certainly, Real’s general manager, Jorge Valdano doesn’t seem too keen:

“Rooney is English, we all know they find it difficult to adapt to another type of competition other than the Premier League.”

“He is a very interesting player but we have not ever been interested.”

Anderson has been linked with a move to Lyon.

And over in beautiful Hull – where the chips taste of curry sauce – an all Egyptian front line of Mido and Zaki could be in the offing.

This “R” sounds like a bit of a prick to me

Why exactly would City want to sign Buffon when they already have one of the best keepers in the league between the sticks, not to mention one of the others out on loan at Birmingham?

rofl, I am actually laughing my ass off every day reading your posts, at your style, your sense of humour and the comparisons you make, so please do not pay much attention to the haters. of course some of your jokes cannot be to everybody’s liking but oh well

don’t get me wrong, i love this site. i was just throwing a bit of constructive criticism into the mix. i’m definately not a hater. i just think some of your jokes are getting a bit stale, such as the whole “what’s known as the reverse micheal owen” etc etc. some of your other jokes regularly make me laugh out loud though so keep it up.

As much as I love this place, why is everything a “cockpunch”?
