Spurs and West Ham battle it out for old man Gudjohnsen
Hmmmm… decisions, decisions
As the transfer window continues to pay a curious homage to the year 2005, it looks like Spurs may yet swoop in and land Eidur Gudjohnsen – once quite good at Chelsea, then a bit limp at Barcelona, now without a goal for Monaco.
West Ham had been leading the race for the retro centre forward – who no doubt charges “vintage” second hand prices now – and he was expected to undergo some kind of medical prodding and squeezing this afternoon, but a rumour rising from today’s Daily Mail suggests that he might just plump for Tottenham Hotspur instead.
In the words of Henry Redknapp:
“I like Eidur and I’ve spoken to his agent.”
“He’s a good footballer. I thought he was going to West Ham but I left it with my chairman.”
“He would be a good loan signing.”
All of which leaves Gudjohnsen with a big decision to make – a fight for survival with West Ham? Or a place on the bench watching Crouchie and Defoe push Spurs for a Champions League spot?
No brainer, really. Grab a blanket, Eidur!

Twat!! I’d much rather play than sit on the bench.

Agreed, as would most of us Jay. But Gudjohnsen does has something of a history of bench warming, no?

Well, he scored from the penalty spot in a penalty shootout for Monaco so he is not completely goalless but still a move to England would be good for him.

Cos’ every top level footballer wants to benchwarm..
Hold on, who says he’ll even benchwarm at spurs? Defoe, Crouch, Keane, Pav…
He’ll be continually playing reserves football.
I could write a better article than this pile of proberbival.
