Man City stars offered £1million-each success bonus!
Another sweet ride for Stephen Ireland?
The”stick” versus “carrot” debate will be one that drags on until the end of time, but word coming through today suggests that the robed gentlemen who pile money into Man City are very much in favour of the “carrot” technique of getting things done.
According to this morning’s Daily Express, Eastlands regulars have been promised the chance to pocket £1million in bonuses, should they make it to next year’s Champions League, along with winning the FA Cup.
Already the players are enjoying a £3,000 per point bonus structure in the league, but without a cup since 1976 – a famously hot year – the honchos are keen to put paid to that particular drought.
The preposterous amount of money would be paid on top of salaries, and could well mean another armful of tatts for Craig Bellamy, and some more revolting cars for Stephen Ireland.
Money well spent.

How’s this bonus structure work if they don’t make the top four this year?
