News in brief

JT’s still important, says Capello. Becks isn’t, imply AC…

Worrying times for Becksie

Beckham

In a move known in the trade as “getting all Lee Bowyer about it”, John Terry might actually improve as a football player whilst the growling spotlight of national disapproval shines angrily upon him.

The alternative is to get all Jonathan Woodgate about it, and that’s not a good look.

Anyway, he had a pretty good weekend, and the word from all of today’s most important pamphlets – The Telegraph, The Guardian, The Daily Mail etc… – is that Fabio Capello still has “JT” in mind as one of the more crucial players, if England are going to have any say in the World Cup – in that he said this:

“Terry is still an important player for England.”

Having a less decent time of things, World Cup-wise, is another former England skipper – David Beckham. Benched at the weekend by AC Milan, the whisper coming through the grapevine is that he could struggle for a starting spot against Man United at the San Siro next Tuesday, and even worse, he could miss out on his glorious Old Trafford homecoming.

Whilst over in Liverpool, a dent has been made on the club’s armour, with biting words from their big summer target, Marouane Chamakh.

“My choice is to join a Premier League club. If I had a choice, I would go to Arsenal.”

Ouch.

What a very STUPID ‘analysis’. He has started ALL game since he went to Milan and played ALL FULL 90 MINUTES FOR EACH..then he got benched for ONE, not to mention an AWAY game, and suddenly he is NOT IMPORTANT??! WTF??! Are you stupid or what?! Don’t you think that Leonardo wants to REST him, PREPARE him for the next HOME game. And the fact that Mancini started..Leonardo wanted to test the water with the new boy (Mancini). But he made a big mistake when he keep Mancini in for too long, and subbing Becks in too late to try to get the win, as there was no time at all left. And Leonardo should have subbed Inzaghi too for the 2nd half.

But back to Becks..if being benched for ONE game means he is not important for the team anymore..than you should say that Giggs is NO LONGER important to Man United whatsoever, as he is CONSTANTLY being in bench nowadays, as well as Gary Neville and Scholes. So..might as well sell them or end their contract now, eh..as they are “not important” anymore for being on the bench. And in case of Becks, for ONE game so far. IDIOT!

Thankyou to the previous comment! I totally agree! Beckham has missed 170 minutes of game time but has played for 640 minutes of game time. Gatusso was benched im sure he is still IMPORTANT! All the papers saying Becks is in trouble are rather silly and rather wrong if Beckham misses a few games without sufficient playing time i would understand some of this talk coming in but seriously this is rediculous. When Beckham came on you saw what Milan were missing and i cant help but think the score line would be different if had played even 20 minutes more. The Milan players were constantly trying to get the ball to him. Mancini just looked lost, if he stays in the team over Beckham it will be a shame, Mancini will need to work his socks of in training for that to happen!

Wow- very biting analysis, People. Might want to get tested for rabies pretty soon.

At any rate, mentioning the relevance of Neville in the same breath (now) as Giggs is pretty stupid. Nowadays it seems like he’s kept on the bench in order to do something or say something stupid about games he doesn’t even play in.

Here in Little Itally we are force fed serie A game just the way the english speaking countries are force fed the EPL and having seen Becky play, the word inconspicuous comes to mind.
He isnt bad and ‘fits in’ and blends into the background.
But his flaws pace wise and defensively havent changed from when he was younger except age has crept in.
And if he isnt scoring on FK’s anymore, then I think he brings enough to the table to compensate even less outshine his on field rival.

To claim otherwise is looking through a fanbois glasses.

A top 10 team cant have guys that fit in, they need people who are among the best in the world at their position. He isnt.
He wont embarass himself but that’s not the point.
    “good enough” isnt an option.

If you want to use him occassionaly like Neville or Giggs, its another story but as a first team starter for a team that claims to be a top 10 team? No.

Anyways, after that 4-0 ass raping against Inter and the 2-0 loss when Inter had 9 players, I think we can all agree that Milan even with Bugs Bunny waking up, arent a top 10 team.

United by two in Milan and 4-0 at home.
You know, like the Milan derby scores.
