Ferguson really hates us, sobs ex-Real Madrid president
Calderon – feeling sensitive
No matter how much effort you put into it, it’s really quite hard to look at Real Madrid and think “victims”. It might be the dazzling white kit, the oily legs, the vast array of strange and intriguing dressing room hairstyles – but they just seem so breezy and self-assured.
Wrong (said to the “eh-uh” buzzer sound from Family Fortunes).
According to Real’s former president, Ramon Calderon, Man United’s Sir Alex Ferguson could be just awful to the Spanish team, so much so that he tried to sell Cristiano Ronaldo to Barcelona out of spite. He said this about the famous Ronaldo deal (as reported on Spanish Eurosport):
“Cristiano reached an agreement on December 8 2008 with Manchester United to come to Real Madrid.”
“There was no negotiation about this, the signing was already done. I did my bit. The player, in a gesture of good faith and clear desire to come to Madrid, agreed to a clause which could have inflicted a financial penalty of €30 million.”
“But then Barcelona and Inter Milan tried to sign him too.”
“It was a difficult situation because for United that would have solved the problem. It’s very well known that Alex Ferguson is not a friend of Real Madrid, does not see Madrid in good light because they are sporting rivals, in trophies and European competition.”
“If he had gone to Barcelona it would have been very good because it would have allowed them to resolve that problem and would have taken away a great player from Real Madrid.”
“But you have to say that the player remained firm and decisive in not going to another club that wasn’t Real Madrid . He rejected them and that is certain.”

Doesn’t this constitute the illegal activity of tapping up? I know it happens everywhere all the time, but rarely do the people involved come out with the information publicly.

errr, if ronaldo & united came to an agreement in dec 08 and that was after real and ronaldo signed their 30mil deal by the sound of things, when the hell was that rm-cr7 deal signed then – may 07? dec 07? even earlier?
yes, united made a huge profit off a player who really didn’t want to be around but everyone at/ fans of utd still have every reason to be p***ed off by both the player and the club as both were talking and making illegal deals for what seems to be around 18 months before utd were forced to conclude that they had to do business if they were to come away with something. Also i know that rm fans are thinking that ronaldo deserves so much respect from them as he was willing to risk 30m in order to join them but on the flip side it’s perhaps upsetting for a utd fan to read that the player was so desperate to leave that he was willing to risk 30m of his own money – was utd really that bad to him over the 6yrs he was there – surely precedent has shown that utd fans/club have been much more fair and supportive compared to those in rm, even if only by 1% more. It is clear that ronaldo did not care for utd, only trophies and that both the player & rm have no respect for utd, or any of the other big clubs for that matter so why the hell calderon is moaning about not being liked i’ve got no idea – it’s no less then they deserve.
On the plus side nothing units the bigger clubs in the world (in the hating of another club mind) like the utd’s, arsenals, milan’s, munich’s, and barca’s like madrid do? – kind of ironic!
