It’s been another big day for the investigative journalists on the Cole case, with Cheryl’s spokesperson, Sundraj Sreenivasan, finally putting everyone out of their misery:

“Cheryl Cole is separating from her husband Ashley Cole. Cheryl asks the media to respect her privacy during this difficult time.”

“We have no further comment to make.”

Back to work now, people.

Elsewhere in the world, Portsmouth look likely to go into administration on Friday, unless a buyer suddenly swoops in on a white horse. An unlikely scenario. As reported in today’s Daily Mail, a statement has been released by the club, which goes a little something like this:

“Businessman Balram Chainrai, the owner of Portsmouth Football Club, has today served notice that the club will go into administration unless new owners can be found by Friday (February 26).”

“Mr Chainrai and fellow investors from his Portpin investment vehicle, are in London to continue talks with representatives of four different groups interested in buying the south coast club, but have had to reluctantly accept that it is now unlikely a deal can be done before a winding up hearing due to be heard in the High Court on Monday.”

Carlos Tevez looks set to return to Man City duty by the weekend, having been in Argentina awaiting news on the health of his baby daughter – born prematurely. Mancini said this:

“It is important Carlos comes back Thursday or Friday so he can play against Chelsea.”

“He said to me that every day he has been training in Argentina, every morning.”

“He had a serious problem but now I think he resolved his problem.”

In World Cup news, it has been confirmed that England will be pitching their camp in an area of South Africa called Phokeng, which should cause all manner of giggling and prodding in various tabloid offices. Can’t wait for those puns.

Ashley Cole is rumoured to be a very serious summer target for both Real Madrid and Barcelona, after all of his off-pitch sex antics have seemingly put him rather out of favour with his Chelsea bosses.

And, speaking of sex antics, here’s a particularly rude video, which just appeared in The Spoiler inbox. Not safe for work…
