Aquilani on Liverpool fans, Bridge’s date with destiny…

Aquilani – because he’s worth it?

If he hasn’t already thanked him, John Terry really should. Ashley Cole has done the ex-England captain a massive favour by stealing the limelight, and shining it on his own tawdry bedroom antics. Behind those giant sunglasses, it’s safe to assume that Cheryl has been crying pure pop tears. A move into furious Death Metal is not out of the question.

Anyway, while the nation joins in a flurry of gasps, and slammed down fists over Ashley’s treatment of such a delicate flower, the world has continued to spin sweetly on its axis, and here’s what we know about football (thanks to the likes of The Telegraph, The Daily Mail, The Mirror etc…):

Alberto Aquilani has vowed to show the world that he isn’t an enormous Liverpool flop, after £20million appears to have bought the team a man with a Monkees hairdo, but little more besides. He said this:

“Giallorossi fans are extraordinary and unique, the best in Italy for sure.”

“There are no more passionate fans in the country. But from what I have seen in England, Liverpool supporters come from the same mould.”

Win over the fans – nice move Alberto.

Elsewhere in the world, Nemanja Vidic has been talking up Man United’s title challenge on the back of last night’s decent turn against West Ham. They are now within grasping distance of Chelsea.

And Fabio Capello looks set to name both John Terry and Wayne Bridge in next week’s England team to face Egypt:

“Ashley Cole and Bridge are No 1 and No 2 left backs, the best left backs that we have, so why would I not select them.”

“Wayne Bridge will not be retiring from international football. He will be with us.”

“As far as I am concerned, there are no problems about the other things that you all know about.”

Should be interesting.

“Giallorossi fans are extraordinary and unique”… yes, the recent CL games where they saw fit to make (literal) mince meat out of Man United fans would certainly hold up that description…

are the “Giallorossi” unemployed and do they steal cars at any given opportunity as well?
