Behold, it’s Cristiano Ronaldo’s pretty new shoes!
Something in purple for you, sir?
Presumably, back in the dawn of football, matching uniforms were insisted upon for two reasons. Firstly, so that you could identify your team mates on a crowded pitch. And secondly, as a show of Socialist unity. No man was bigger than any other man – a bit like how Communists used to wear a lot of “olive”.
Of course, then Kevin Keegs came along with his big afro wig in the 1970s, and ever since, footballers have rather taken to standing out from the crowd, meaning that - just as with Animal Farm (allegory, not urban legend) – some players have become slighly more important than others.
Like human peacocks, they show this by sprucing up their feathers/kit.
Becksie did it with a vast array of strange womanly haircuts, and now Cristiano Ronaldo has picked up the fashion baton, and likes to express his greatness by wearing multi-coloured boots. He’s already been seen in red ones, blue ones, yellow ones, and just yesterday he invited the world to look at his new purple ones.
You can enjoy a video of these purple boots set to a trendy rap beat above.
