Brainy Retorts

Send in your John Terry famous quote suggestions!

JT, grab a crayon!

Well, this one looks set to drag on and on. Everyone’s forming little gangs – you’ve got Team Bridge with Bellamy, Tevez, most rational human beings. Then Team Terry – made up of WKD drinkers, people who gel their hair forward, and men who punch other men/women in the face until one of them decides to run away, or goes limp and passes out.

It’s messy, and unfortunately for JT, most of the readers, bookworms and intellectuals will be wearing Team Bridge colours. Hence his rather limp retort to the Bellamy post-match outburst:

“I’ve heard what he said, and people in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones. That’s all I want to say.”

And yet, somehow JT, we wish you hadn’t said it at all. If it’s an old adage you’re after, please not that one. So uninspiring, overused, insipid. So, in an attempt to level out the playing field for the inevitable war of cliches, below are some famous lines to help the Team Terry cause.

Please send in your suggestions.

“We all go a little mad sometimes.”

Norman Bates, Psycho

“Don’t judge any man until you have walked two moons in his moccasins.”

Indian Proverb

“I am no bird; and no net ensnares me; I am a free human being with an independent will…”

Charlotte Bronte

“If you prick us do we not bleed?”

William Shakespeare

“I’m not bad, I’m just drawn that way.”

Jessica Rabbit

“I long, as does every human being, to be at home wherever I find myself.”

Maya Angelou

“If you judge people, you have no time to love them.”

Mother Teresa

“Love me when I least deserve it, because that’s when I really need it.”

Swedish Proverb

JT, you’re welcome.

If you love someone, let them go, and if it’s meant to be, they will come back…. maybe not with a handshake! Boom boom!

Histories are more full of examples of the fidelity of dogs than of friends.

Bored with this whole “Team Bridge/Team Terry” palaver now … isn’t the really big question, are you Team Cheryl or Team Frankie in the FHM Top 100?

Darren, I have no idea who Team Frankie refers to. If, as I suspect, it’s Detorri, then fear not, Cheryl’s got this one in the bag.

In the red corner … onetime WAG and lip-synching songstress Cheryl Cole.

In the blue corner … fresh-faced new kid on the block Frankie Sandford out of The Saturdays.

(let’s conveniently gloss over the whole “Frankie used to be in S Club Juniors” fact)
