World Cup Fever

Oh great, another World Cup hopeful gets injured!

Brown and out…

wes Brown

Fans of the Final Destination films will know the format all too well. You start with a group of great looking young people, all full of hope, then slowly the cruel hand of fate starts snaffling them one by one, removing them from the plot, until all that’s left are the real stars of the show battling for survival against the odds. It’s up to them to somehow foil destiny.

A real life version of these movies appears to be happening in the England camp. The star players are still just about there – Lampsie, Stevie G, JT, the Roonster – but how long before it’s their turn to endure the horrific twanging sound of a snapped hamstring during a routine jog?

Bit part player Michael Owen was completely butchered by the stabbing arm of fate last week, and now, just this weekend, another first team outsider, Wes Brown, took a metaphorical pounding claw-hammer in the conkers.

The word from today’s Daily Mail is that the Man United defender has fallen foul to the notorious “metatarsal” break – an injury invented solely for footballers getting ready for big tournaments – and could now face three months on the sidelines, pretty much ruling him out of the World Cup.

The good news is that Glen Johnson should be back in action within the next few weeks, but with Ashley Cole still poorly, Wayne Bridge nursing some swollen emotions, Aaron Lennon battling to get back, is it time to roll England’s most prized assets in cotton wool and send them to house made out of marsh mallows and soft furnishings?

Film buffs will know how this one ends, and it ain’t pretty.

Take Brown anyway-the injury won’t make his displays any worse surely?

If A. Cole miss Worl Cup or if he ‘s not fit for, We have to pick N’Zogbia up. He’s just 23, very talented and left footed. He played for France U21, but is now eligible for England thanks to his 5 yrs living in UK. Capelle must take this opportunity !!!
