Oh no, now Riera’s gone berserk in training!
Riera – wants out?
Deliberately attempting to get sacked isn’t as easy as it sounds. It’s a gradual process, which begins with a few late starts in a row, then slowly escalates through two hour lunches, flat refusal to attend meetings, then openly drinking pints at your desk. Even then, it might just be a written warning.
That’s when the violence starts.
One man really putting his back into his own “Project: Get Sacked” is Albert Riera at Liverpool. Just yesterday, it was reported that he’d been openly bitching about Rafa Benitez during an interview, and now it seems that he’s gone to Phase 2 - going berserk in training.
According to today’s Daily Mail, the Spaniard went loco “in a training ground flashpoint”, and turned on a petrified young reserve player, much to the sheer fury of Benitez. He was dragged away by some of the more seasoned professionals.
He has now been suspended until Monday, and fined £70,000. The equivalent of a written warning.
Time for Phase 3…

“He was dragged away by some of the more seasoned professionals, much to the sheer fury of Benitez.”
Are you implying that Benitez was furious with the more seasoned professionals for dragging the Cieh reject off this poor frightened youngster? Because that would definitely be proof that Rafa’s gone loco.
