Great news, Arsenal, van Persie’s feeling a bit better!
As with great comedy, if you are going to get injured, it’s all about the timing. Rooney, bless him, has had a wonderful season, but to lose him now would be a disaster not just for Man United, but also for the World Cup. Nothing funny about that.
He’d be much better off taking a leaf out of Robin van Persie’s book, who – rather hilariously – is on his way back to full fitness.
After smashing up his ankle ligaments way back in November, it’s been a long road to recovery, but in scenes reminiscent of the final battle in Star Wars where Han Solo suddenly returns to the fold to help his sarcastic friend Luke blow up a space station, van Persie could be coming back just at the right time.
He told the popular Dutch TV show Studio Voetbal that he now feels “medically fit”, and is raring to rejoin Arsenal as they fight for the Premier and Champions League, before going on to do battle for Holland in the World Cup.
He said this:
“That’s been my goal from the beginning.”
