Real Madrid rather confuse the rules of a minute’s silence
Right, silence everyone… and cue music!
The sad loss of the Polish President, Lech Kaczynski – who died in a terrible plane crash – has sparked a flurry of commemorative activity, even stretching so far as being honoured with “a minute’s silence” before El Clasico at the weekend.
Only, it wasn’t exactly silent. The rules of a minute’s silence seem to be pretty clear. You stand for a minute. In silence. Granted, there will always be one or two cretins nervously talking their way through it, or tapping people on the shoulder asking why everyone has stopped talking.
But, rarely do you get the sounds of Once Upon a Time in the West by Ennio Morricone blaring through a tannoy to aid you in your morbid contemplation. Is this a new take on “silence” that The Spoiler has rather missed the boat on?
And why Ennio Morricone?
