As reported in today’s Mirror, Sir Alex Ferguson took a bit of time out from wandering the Man United training pitches, randomly slapping his players, and instead drew a little self portrait to be included in The Art of Football collection for the music therapy charity Nodroff Robins.
Only, whilst most of those involved attempted sympathetic interpretations of themselves - most often resulting in childlike stick men with balloon heads – Sir Alex conjured up something rather more intriguing, an image which professional drawing psychologists could really go to town on. It appears to be a clown in a dunce’s cap.
Has the mask slipped? Underneath it all, is Sir Alex just a lonely clown who thinks he’s a bit thick?
