Capello hints at an Adam Johnson World Cup inclusion
South Africa bound?
Sit alone in a pub, pretending to read a novel, and you will overhear fifty or more football conversations coming from the various tables of secretaries that surround you during your lonely drink. Roughly 37 per cent of these will concern the title race, 29 per cent will be about whether any of them “would” Lionel Messi, and the remaining 34 per cent will focus on the contenders for England’s World Cup squad.
Well, ladies, you can probably put any rampant Adam Johnson debates to bed now, and concentrate on the finer things in life – shoes, Sarah Jessica Parker, Garnier (take care!) – because Fabio Capello has all but put him on a plane for South Africa, strapped him in, and personally handled the short lecture about how to cope if your pilot nods off at the wheel.
He said this during a simple Q&A (as reported in the Daily Mail):
Q. Has any young English player caught your eye this season?
A. Adam Johnson. He’s come up from the Championship at Middlesbrough, where he played in a different position, and he’s done well with Manchester City. It’s important he gets some international experience.
Mancini has, of course, dubbed Johnson “the new Ryan Giggs”, which is great news for England, being that they missed out on the old one. But a worthy squad inclusion? Let us know with a comment.

I wish he was American. He and Milner both. I feel like you could stick them anywhere in midfield in a pinch, and you wouldn’t have a drop off.
