For everything that he acheived in his wonderful career, John Barnes will forever be remembered for three special moments. The astonishing goal against Brazil, the Lucozade advert where he deftly kicks a can into a bin – something The Spoiler has never successfully recreated. And his magnificent rap on the 1990 England World Cup song.
So, everyone has permission to go completely bananas, because the news from today’s Guardian is that John Barnes will be dusting down his microphone, presumably donning a fashionable set of astonishingly baggy trousers, and re-recording one of the UK’s finest hip hop moments for a new advert for Mars Bars.
