Should Dawson and King start for England at the World Cup?
England’s two at the back?
When it comes to big football tournaments, it’s all about peaking at the right time. Hence, there are still a few positions up for grabs in the England starting XI. In fact, take away Ashley Cole, Wayne Rooney, and Lampsie, and it’s pretty much all up for grabs.
On current form, even Stevie G might struggle.
And so to the back. Johnson and Cole look set to start, but what about Terry and Ferdinand? Terry has been a shadow of himself ever since the big sex scandal, whilst Ferdinand has barely played. So, might The Spoiler suggest starting with Dawson and King? Both have been on blinding form in the latter stages of the season, they play together week in/week out. But would Capello have the stones to do it?

You say Terry has been a shadow of himself.Well the Opta Stats tell a different story. They say that Terry and Vidic have been the two best Centre Backs this season and the stats don’t lie.The real truth is Terry has played two bad matches,Everton away and Spurs away. The rest of the time he’s been terrific.Tommy Baldwin said on Chelsea TV,I’m not having it Terry has been great and it’s all media crap.

A decent point Liam, but what if he has two bad matches in the World Cup?

Josh – surely the same could be said for anyone though? Rooney, Lamps, Cole, Terry, Stevie, anyone could have one, two or more bad games, personally though, on balance, I’d have to agree with Liam, Terry should get his place, and I would pair him with Dawson…
Come on England!!

It COULD Phil, but a bad game at the back can be disasterous. Can you remember Ledley’s last bad game? He doesn’t seem to have any…

hmmmmm, good point, I suppose the only question mark would be Ledders’ fitness, if he can stay injury free (which on recent evidence looks likely), then I certainly wouldn’t exclude him completely from the squad.

This gets more and more like the Spurs website each day.
Tomorrow can we have a poll asking if it should be Dave out of ‘Chas & Dave’ and Tom Huddlestone in midfield?

n’ah, that would just be silly, clearly, Chas is far more technically gifted than Dave, killer pass on him that guy, everyone’s knows that…
