the big question

Gareth Barry apparently out – who should replace him?

Meet the candidates

Carrick, Hargreaves, Huddlestone, Parker

The word from The Daily Mail is that Gareth Barry’s buggered up ankle could be worse than anyone expected, as he looks set to miss out on the World Cup.

Begging the question – who should be drafted in to replace him as England’s number one holding midfielder?

It looks like a simple head-to-head-to-head-to-head between the dwindling Carrick, the career peaking Scott Parker, the ever-improving Tom Huddlestone, and England’s second most notorious Owen – Hargreaves.

Who would YOU go for? Let us know with a vote and a comment.

I’m real happy for those other players and Imma let you finish but I would take pretty much the entire Tottenham team because they have the best team in the whole world… the whole world.

Good point Tim – Tottenham do have a lot of good players, many of which are young and British. Can you imagine supporting a team like Arsenal? Awful! Not only would you be having to watch a load of average foreigners every week, you’d also be watching football in a silent souless corporate bowl. Plus your best player would want to be off to Barca AND you wouldn’t have won anything for 5 years. IMAGINE THAT TIM!!!

    Tom Huddlestone or Jack Rodwell.

Well as a foreigner, I’d rather watch the best team play regardless of their passports and seeing as how this is the first time since 1961 Sp*rs have been in the top 4 and Arsenal have been in the Champions League for 13 years straight, I’d hardly call Arsenal “average foreigners.”

As for the atmosphere, you’re right, Sp*rs have a great atmosphere — where they chant “sit down you pedophile.” I’d rather sit in a souless corporate bowl than sit with scum who chant songs like that. Oh and don’t worry before long you’ll have your own soulless corporate bowl I believe you’re calling it “naming rights stadium?”

You’re in the top four now and almost all grown up! Now if you could just ditch the last vestiges of childhood — this clinging on to xenophobia and nationalism that is all Sp*rs have had for 40 years — well, then maybe you could win something meaningful.

    And then release a DVD.

lol @ Tim’s bitter lemon, reactionary comments. Fact is Tommy H, Dawson, Ledley, Defoe and crouch should all be on that plance to SA. They’ve been the most consistance England players in the league guiding Spurs into the top 4 and standing out even with talent like Luka Modric, kranjcar and Pav @ the club.

So with that said, I choose Tommy H. The rest on that list have either been injured most of the season and barely played (Hello Hargreaves). Poor for the last 5 months (hi carrick). Or guided their side to the mighty heights of just above the relegation spot (ello jimmy. time for mcdonalds).

LoL “bitter lemon” — you have no clue.

I want you to take all the Sp*rs players to the WC, so that Algeria can top the group stage.

FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS HOLY. MAKE SURE THERE’S A LONDON BASED FOOTBALLER CONSIDERED FOR ALL THESE ENGLAND DEBATES!

    Vote Chas & Dave!
