The Big Question

Boateng on Ballack – just a bad tackle? Or more to it?

Judge for yourself…

Our German brothers and sisters have reportedly gone totally bananas about Boateng’s FA Cup final challenge on Michael Ballack, which has put the Chelsea man out of the World Cup. So much so that his dad has been inspired to speak out on his little boy’s behalf, saying this (as reported in The Daily Mail):

“It upsets me a lot. But you have to look at the whole story. (In 2006) Kevin had just scored his first goal for Hertha (Berlin). Then they played against Bayern Munich. He had an argument with Ballack.”

“Ballack said to him: “You’ve scored one goal, and you think you are the best!”"

“Kevin has never forgotten that. Unfortunately, Kevin isn’t very diplomatic. But I am sure, even if he did foul Ballack, he didn’t mean to injure him.”

Hmmm, yeah, thanks for that Dad. But what do YOU think? Malicious? Or just badly timed? Let us know with a vote and a comment.

Can’t quite remember, but just before that “tackle” didn’t Ballack slap one of the Pompey players in the face after a bit of argy bargy?
Remember thinking at the time that not much was made of the slap, then Prince Kev showed what he thought of it…

That tackle wasn’t even half as bad as Ryan Shawcross’ insane lunge.

Ballack was winding-up pompy players before that tackle, especially Boateng. Still, i dont think he meant to injure him.
