Transfer Talk

Might this be Jose Mourinho’s ideal Real Madrid XI?

Third time lucky?

Mourinho and Gerrard

With Mourinho seemingly all set to swan over to Real Madrid, there has been much talk about who he’ll be looking to sign in the summer months.

The whisper is that he’s going to start by adding a little bit of grit to the team that already boasts some sparkling attacking talent, with rumours abound that he’ll be plucking Maicon and Lucio from his Inter team, before removing Ashley Cole from his annus horribilis with the tempting opportunity to spend his days off mopping up the leftovers as a key member of C.Ronaldo’s nightclub entourage.

In the midfield, he’s been predictably linked with Lampsie, but more likely moves have been marked out for Roma’s midfield hard man Daniele De Rossi, and a third-time-lucky attempt to work with Stevie G.

Whilst, up front, Fernando Torres has been mentioned (unlikely), as has Diego Milito, and Jose’s old pal, Didier Drogba (more likely).

Begging the question, might Mourinho’s intended team look a little something like this?

Goalkeeper: Casillas

Defenders: Maicon, Lucio, Albiol, Cole

Midfield: De Rossi, Alonso, Gerrard

Attacking Midfield: Kaka, Ronaldo

Striker: Drogba

Yeah, not bad. Let us know your thoughts with a comment.

Actually I see that team working, if it follows the same template as the Chelsea team with CR9 and Kaka nominally wide attacking players, and Alonso in the Makalele role. It’s gonna cost him though …

And if Sergio Ramos is going spare, can we add him to the rota of ugly right-backs that we’ve got at Man Utd please?

ok , well i think murinho always prefers to have 4 full backs , real cant afford maicon ,, ashley cole maybe ,, i dont see gerrard and alonso playing toghether i see them as each others replacements ! and drogba and CR9 i dont they wil getalong very well .

Gerrard and Alonso the same player…..? What football have you been watching the past 4 or so years?

  • david // May 24, 2010 at 8:15 pm

so….6 new signings this summer which would hypothetically mean another 200m euros spent. 4 of them over 30 yrs old and leaving only 3 spaniards in the team? no chance!

This lineup is crap. It’s not even Real Madrid anymore. I don’t think I will be able to stand it. Only 4 of the people are regular starters. It will be hard for me to even watch Real Madrid if this happens.

  • Sarah // May 25, 2010 at 12:51 am

    Sorry 5 regular starters

  • DUDE???? // May 25, 2010 at 9:29 am

wtf!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Why would they every get rid of Ramos or Arbeloa, thats one stupid thing, and the worst one is who in flipping hell would replace Higuain with Drogba i bet ya Mourinho just wants him as Backup, Gerrard wont leave his beloved club and if he does he’s going down!!!.

  • shan // May 25, 2010 at 12:50 pm

yeah there’s no way they’re getting rid of ramos or higuain. and there’s no way torres would play for real madrid. he’s an atleti.

real madrid no need gerrard, drogba, lampard,a.cole or others.
they must only concern about their defence.with pepe and s.ramos as cb it could be promising n additionall maicon to overlap n de rossi to strengthen the back.they also got bunch of great talent like granero and new signing canales.so,no need to spend a lot.last season we saw the 80% of new faces in 1st 11.but its not easy to get fit into new team members and to create a superb chemistry.but its great to see last season real fight with barca till the very end of the season.with termendous attacking football.for me the recent team good enough.they only should buy 2 or 3 new player.

marcelo needs to not be on the dream list. i think they could spare him. i know i wouldn’t mind seeing him go elsewhere. but i think they should keep basically the same squad. what they have now is a solid group of players, they just need to learn to play better as a team.

  • Kareem // May 27, 2010 at 6:38 pm

Sergio Ramos is definitely a key member of the squad. He should be included.
