Is ‘Shout for England’ going to be the new ‘Three Lions’?

Probably not, no

It might be a stonewall classic, but Three Lions is getting on for 14 years old. Since Euro ’96, various pop stars and ‘wacky’ fans have tried to emulate the success of Baddiel & Skinner’s smash tune and pretty much every attempt has turned out indescribably shit.

However, this year that could all change. Maybe. Perhaps. The Sun are reporting self-appointed ‘England’s rose’, James Corden, is teaming up with pop prince Dizzee Rascal to do a cover of Tears for Fears fist-pumping ’80s hit ‘Shout’.

The song hasn’t been released yet and there’s no video – they’re asking members of the public to film themselves standing around, singing along awkwardly instead – but a clip of is available to listen to here, along with the lyrics, which featuring stirring lines like:

Come on England we need to sort it out,
Put the champs down,
Pull your finger out,
Leave the wags alone,

We need Rooney in tip top condition,
Aaron Lennon down the wing like he’s on a mission,
It ain’t no superstition, its not a luck thing,
Rio Ferdinand nobody can !@$% With him!,

Churchillian. Give it a listen and tell us what you think… we were heavily disappointed. Although if The Spoiler had it’s way, we’d just release World in Motion every four years.
