The 10 most exciting players at the World Cup… for now
Yes, meet three of them
Of course, a World Cup can make footballers, break footballers, or simply uncover magnificent attacking talent, and over the next few weeks one or two names will surely be introduced into the global vernacular.
In England terms, this could be the tournament that cements Rooney’s place in history, or even propels Aaron Lennon onto the global stage.
But, for now, the ten most exciting attacking players in South Africa are listed below. Will the list be the same in a couple of months?
Lionel Messi, Argentina
Cristiano Ronaldo, Portugal
Wayne Rooney, England
Andres Iniesta, Spain
Franck Ribery, France
Kaka, Brazil
Arjen Robben, Holland
Didier Drogba, Ivory Coast
Fernando Torres, Spain
Samuel Eto’o, Cameroon

it’s a tough list to make, bearing in mind the likes of villa, silva, RVP and Sneijder

All of the above came into contention. If it were a Top 15, they’d have been there. No doubt.

Perhaps this would be a good list of exciting players to watch leading up to the World Cup. Messi, Robben, Kaka, and Iniesta are the only ones on this list that have done anything significant for their team. The rest I’ll admit are World Class but they’ve underperformed in this tournament, including C. Ronaldo who keeps getting undeserved votes for player of the match, for what I can only assume is because he’s popular. I guess the voters aren’t actually watching the games.
Seriously, no David Villa?
