Fulham reject Arsenal’s £3m Schwarzer bid, Everton buy young striker Joao Silva

Transfer rumours ahoy!

Arsene Wenger has seen the light and is finally on the prowl for a new goalkeeper. Unfortunately for him, he’s only been prowling five minutes and his bid to prise Mark Schwarzer out of Fulham‘s hands has already been emphatically rejected.

Arsenal are clearly desperate to get their hands on Schwarzer, having offered £3m for the Australian despite him a) being 37 years old and b) only having a year left on his contract. The Spoiler expects Woy Hodgson will be getting a followup call from North London soon enough.

In other OAP news, the Eastlands changing room will get to hear another season’s worth of old war stories about Patrick Vieira‘s battles with Roy Keane, after the French midfielder signed a one year extension on his Man City contract. The club are keen to bolster their squad for next season’s torturous UEFA Cup campaign.

Finally, Everton have splashed out £500k on 20-year-old striker Joao Silva, a Portuguese prodigy labeled as ‘the next Pauleta’. Two words: Helder. Postiga.

It’s rumour time!

Wilson Palacios > Barcelona

The Catalan club are said to be making preparations to replace Man City-bound Yaya Toure.

The Spoiler truth-o-meter: Palacios is a fan favourite, but with Brazilian signing Sandro on the horizon, the team’s midfield is getting crowded. Spurs might take the chance at making a tidy profit.

Dirk Kuyt & Javier Mascherano > Inter

The Daily Mail clams Rafa Benitez is preparing a raid on his old club by offering a whopping £33m for the pair.

The Spoiler truth-o-meter: Unless Rafa has recently woken up and decided he literally wants his hand bitten off, The Spoiler slightly doubts this one.

West Ham & Wigan > A psychiatric ward

After slapping £16.5m and £15m price tags on Carlton Cole and Hugo Rodallega respectively.
