Hot favourites England are worth a punt against Algeria

Should be straightforward for Capello’s men

The Spoiler is always happy for a friend of the site to have their say about the World Cup. Here’s what some of our pals had to say about England’s chance for redemption against Algeria:

England v Algeria is a chance for the Three Lions to forget about their discouraging opening game against USA.

England were written off after just one game, but considering what’s happened to France and Spain since, maybe the USA result wasn’t so bad after all. England are hot favourites against Algeria, and if they do succeed, they will be sitting pretty with four points and Slovenia still to play.

Algeria will be on the defence, and holding out for a draw and because of this it’ll probably be a low scoring game – under 2.5 goals looks like a decent enough bet.

After seeing Villa, Messi and Fabiano all drawing blanks, Rooney must be getting pretty nervous. All the favourites for the Golden Boot have yet to perform and the England striker needs to use this game as a good opportunity to get a few goals in and shorten his odds to win the top scorer crown. He’s definitely worth having a punt, either as 1st goalscorer or to score anytime against Algeria.
