Back Serbia to come out on top against Australia tonight
3rd placed Group D team should secure a much needed win
Serbia are heading into tonight’s clash against Australia knowing they have to win and hoping Germany get something out of their game with Ghana. While slightly disappointing in the first two games, the Serbians were touted as dark horses coming into World Cup 2010 and we reckon they’ll start picking up form tonight.
Apart from shooting themselves in the foot with two handballs in the box, they’ve looked solid at the back with Nemanja Vidic and Neven Subotic impressing against the Germans, and although the whole back four is suspended for tonight’s clash, Serbia have a wealth of competent replacements.
Austrialia are missing one of their key attacking threats in Harry Kewell, but they need goals. We expect them to play an open attacking game, which Serbia could soak up and exploit on the break.
