Maradona reckons Jose Mourinho is useful in bed

Diego uses the Special One as late-night tactics hotline

Diego Maradona has revealed he plans to take the slightly unfair step of engaging in some after-hours tactical brainstorming with smug Champions League conqueror Jose Mourinho, in preparation for Argentina’s assault on the World Cup knockout stages.

Apparently The Special One’s mobile number enjoys pride of place on Diego’s bedside table and the two regularly shoot the breeze about football into the wee hours:

“I like Mourinho a lot. I’ve got his phone number, I might call him,” Maradona said. “We spent hours talking about football, attacking and defensive tactics. He seemed to me a guy to take to your bedside table and ask him each time you need something.”

So if Argentina suddenly turn into a sleep-inducing, impossibly negative team the likes of which even Greece would turn their noses up at, you know who to blame.
