Maradona mocks Schweini with comedy German accent

Diego comes over all Basil Fawlty as 1/4-final war of words heats up

The pre-fight staredown between World Cup quarter-finalists Argentina and Germany is rumbling on into its third day.

With Lahm, Tevez and Bastian Schweinsteiger already having a pop, it’s Diego Maradona‘s turn to step up to the podium, adjust his ill-fitting suit and take one last shuffle through flash cards filled with ‘your mum’ jokes and hilarious observations on German culture.

In an interview with Fox Sports yesterday, Diego responded to Schweini’s accusations of the Argentinean squad being a bunch of diving hatchet-men by questioning his testicular fortitude, using what the papers are reporting was meant to be a mock German accent.

Says Mirror Football:

“Maradona… put on his best imitation of a German accent and mocked: “What’s the matter Schweinsteiger? Are you nervoushh?”

Diego Maradona – genius footballer, spectacularly crap impersonator.

Actually, he wasn’t mocking a German accent. he was mocking an Argentina’s ex-president who once said to a newspaper that

Hope this time the Germans won’t play dirty like in 2006
