Dutch wives demonstrate how to dress for footie

Dutch Ladies

In terms of getting glammed up, the Dutch wives and girlfriends aren’t a million miles away in type from the bosomy lovelies who wile away their evenings enduring JT’s sloppy kisses, or Lampsie’s moist, darting hands - but with one marked difference.

When it comes to dressing appropriately for a match, the “van Something” girls have got it nailed.

Whilst the England ladies like to turn up to important games as though they’re off to brunch with the professional freelance journalist from Sex and the City, Holland’s bed partners at least leave clues that they are supporting their men.

Notably by wearing the team colours, or by fashioning the national flag on their cheeks using expensive Maybelline make up.

Below are some lovely pictures to prove it.

And extra props to Mrs van der Vaart who went one step further by dressing down, but dyeing her skin orange! Such dedication.

dude mrs van der vaart has been having chemo for cancer over the last year, give the gal a break. she fought thru cancer with a brave face and a dancing with the stars trophy. if she wants orange skin let her have it

What a strange comment, Ben. I am totally happy for Mrs van der Vaart to have orange skin – I’m not sure where a fight against cancer comes into this.

Ben…great comment. Josh…stop and think for a minute. A snarky comment about orange skin would normally elicit a giggle about anybody other than Sylvie. But when a woman goes through chemo, loses her hair, looks/feels less than spectacular…any comments about her appearance are likely to hurt her much more than cancer-free women. Ben is right. A little sensitivity goes a long way…even in a football blog.

Missy, thanks for the comment. Very well put. I am now awkwardly staring at my shoes. That said, I think a little too much is being read into a tongue-in-cheek story comparing one set of WAGs to another. WAGs, by their very nature, are known for their striking appearance – often involving incredible tans – so Sylvie is not being gratuitiously singled out for ridicule. It’s just a bit of light hearted fun. From what you have said, she is obviously an admirable woman.

    Mrs Braafheid looks about 14.

Josh – you should be ashamed of yourself, you failed to mention what a fantastic rack she has.

Ben, what websites to you trawl to know that a Dutch footballers wife is in remission from cancer?

Methinks you spent too much time looking at pictures of footballers arses and legs on kickette.

  • ben // July 7, 2010 at 2:47 pm

Nick kickette is a new one to me. but rest assured i shall be straight on there to check out the arses as soon as i get a chance to grab a box of tissues.

Josh, fair play, good comment. you possess the writing skills so very lacking in your peers

JoshBurt and Ben…it’s refreshing to see two literate, well-reasoned and sensible people posting on a football blog.

Nick…how would you know where to find photos of “footballers arses and legs” if you weren’t trawling for them yourself? Methinks you’re in denial about something.

Ah, isn’t it so nice to everyone get on…keep these trashy posts to the celeb blogs. WAGs? Give me a break..!
