Terrible gambler loses silly money thanks to Spain

If you ever think that you’re having a bad day, just close your eyes and imagine that you’re the risk taker who thought that a 500,000 euros bet on a Germany win last night (at odds 10/11) was a decent bit of business - even though the magic octopus in your head just told you that it wasn’t!
The biggest World Cup bet ever, as pointed out by William Hill spokesman, Graham Sharpe, yesterday afternoon:
“The punter, based in Europe, will get back 954,000 euros if Germany go through, having taken odds of 10/11 that they will.”
Wow, 954,000 Euros! That’s loads!
As it is, he lost almost half a million squids. Oops.
