Transfer Talk

Liverpool sign the wrong Young from Aston Villa…

Liverpool make bid for one of these men. But which?

Ashley and Luke Young

For those worried about Ben Shepherd, now that he’s being bundled off the GMTV sofa to make room for Adrian Chiles’ curious brand of early morning sarcasm, you can relax now. He’s landed a job at Sky Sports.

Here’s some more incisive transfer news, thanks to the likes of The Guardian, The Daily Mail, and a couple of the ones with the naked breasts in…

Roy Hodgson has stamped his mark on Liverpool FC, by holding the door open for Mascherano, before reportedly flexing some muscle with a bid just short of £3million for the retired international right/left back, Luke Young.

Without wanting to spit too much fuel on the bonfire, as a signal of intent, this one could be rather stronger. Liverpool fans, it would be interesting to know your thoughts.

Just up the road, beyond some well kept National Trust secrets, and directly over an area of the countryside that essentially acts as a makeshift roof for Gary Neville’s secret underground palace, you get to Manchester, where the James Milner debacle is hurtling onwards with all of the hysterical thrill of a Heartbeat omnibus.

Villa are still holding out for £30million, City want to pay around £24million, and it seems to be getting to the point where everyone appears to have forgotten something… it’s JAMES MILNER.

In important London news – Jamie Redknapp’s number one choice for double dates or couples holidays, Scott Parker, shan’t be going to Spurs to work for Jamie’s dad, Henry. West Ham won’t let him.

And in news that feels at least fifteen years old:

Sol Campbell has joined Newcastle United.

That is all.

I wonder what erratic behavior we can expect from Sol at Newcastle?

Figures touted about the internet look like it is 2.5 million for Luke Young, but even at that price I still think it is a waste of money. He will be nothing but a squad player, but also you have to look at the number of “home grown” players that you have to have in the 25 man squad, maybe that is what Hodgson is thinking about?

I’m not a Liverpool fan…but I do admire Roy Hodgson. I really hope he is can reverse the club’s free fall. But it’s going to be an uphill battle with the club still on the auction block. No stability. No money. No Champions League.

You misspelled “Manchester” in the fifth paragraph. You are welcome, and may delete my comment once the aforementioned word is corrected. Just wanted to save you from the ruthless grammar nazis that roam these parts of the land.
