Carvalho’s off to Real Madrid, plus Arsenal man to Spurs
The only noise of note coming from Manchester today is the soft Welsh lilt of Craig Bellamy’s voice as he discusses his future with himself in the mirror – presumably in the manner of Ben Kingsley’s Don Logan in Sexy Beast.
“You gonna quit, Craig? You gonna let these bastards make you quit? Mancini! Mancini! He’s making a fool of you Craig…”
* Craig emerges from the bathroom and kicks Carlos Tevez in the face to wake him up.
Anyway, here’s what we know about transfers thanks to the likes of The Sun, The Daily Mail, and oooh look it’s The Guardian!
In one of football’s most moving bromances, Ricardo Carvalho is heading back into Jose Mourinho’s arms – this time at Real Madrid.
Chelsea have agreed to flog the defender for £6.7million, with growing whispers suggesting that they will now have a stab at inviting Benfica’s David Luiz over for a bogus fishing trip that turns sexy.
Ashley Cole, meanwhile, still burns an inexplicable flame in Mourinho’s heart, and might yet be off. The hardened sports journalists at the Daily Mail seem keen to point out that Cole hasn’t come out and nailed his colours to Chelsea for the coming season.
Was there more to his half-hearted display in the Community Shield than originally infuriated the eye?
And over at Spurs, the big talk surrounds the possible signing of Arsenal man William Gallas, who seems keen to attempt a daring move known in the trade as either “the reverse Sol Campbell”, or “the classic David Bentley”. But the whole thing could be scuppered by his preposterous contract demands, which aren’t quite of Balotellic proportions, but still.
And in three word news:
Ashley Young, Spurs.
Robbie Keane, Villa.
That is all.
