Man City XI
Is this Roberto Mancini’s dream Man City XI?
Hmmm, not bad, not bad…
In one of the more long-winded transfer sagas of recent memory, James Milner has finally made his way to Man City for a preposterous amount of money for a young chap described by some as “a poor man’s Owen Hargreaves”.
Might Mancini’s starting XI come to resemble the above piccy? The likes of Given, Richards, Kompany, Lescott, Bridge, De Jong, Vieira, Johnsons Adam and Michael, SWP, Adebayor, Robinho, and Santa Cruz might beg to differ.
But what do YOU think? Let us know with a comment.
In other news, Balotelli’s girlfriend, Melissa Castagnoli, is a bit of alright.

Lol, a “dream” XI that includes either Toure brother! They wouldn’t make Chesterfield’s dream eleven, let alone one that’s still trying to overtake Spurs. Still cracks me up to think that Yaya makes £100K per week more than Rooney! Proper value for money, that is.

The only time I have ever heard of James Milner being a ‘poor man’s Owen Hargreaves’ is in this article. So prusumably the anonymous author is the ‘some’ in the article.

I wouldn’t called the author entirely “anonymous”, Gratian…

I really want Gourcuff. I am not satisfied with the creative midfield role in Manchester City. It might hunt us this first half of the season. Because we shall make this correction. That I am sure of.

i dont get the owen hargreaves comment either. milner is ‘a poor man’s hargreaves’ in the same way fabregas is ‘a poor man’s drogba’ or lucas is ‘a poor man’s van der sar’. what are you on about?

Why even bother mentioning Shawn Wright Phlops in a dream team–sub or otherwise? The only time his name should be mentioned these days is in connection with a transfer story–to parts unknown.

Darren…Yaya makes £100K MORE per week than Rooney??? Wow. Wayne needs to hire Yaya’s agent.
On a completely unrelated note, I think Man City has a lot of fun-to-say names on their team:
- Yaya
- Adebayor
- Boyata
- Zabeleta
- Santa Cruz

Darren, what are you going on about? Kolo, granted, has been generally poor for City. But why don’t you ask some Barca fans what they think of Yaya? I also remember him dominating against a certain team from Stretford in the champions league final not too long ago.
Darren // August 19, 2010 at 2:22 pm
If he was so good, why did Barca let him go and keep a kid from the reserves? Why weren’t any big teams in for him? Yaya Toure is the poor man’s Dickson Etuhu.

Barca kept the local guy Sergio Busquets over Yaya. If you have two evenly matched players, I think the Catalan whose father also played for Barca is going to get the edge.
Hart
Boateng- Kompany – K Toure – Kolarov
A Johnson – Y Toure- DeJong – Silva
Tevez
Balotelli
Bench – Given, Richards, Zabaleta, Barry, Milner, Robinho, Adebayor.
Tevez is a hard worker but he’s too small to work as a solo target man up front. Ade and Mario provide the necessary size to free up Tevez to create and chase. Adam Johnson is the best creator on the wing by far on this team until Silva gets up to speed in the English game.

This squad is one if the worst team ever!!!!!!
I don’t think this 11 can capable to achieve anything if Mancini exclude Robinho……

Yaya has been very good so far. This team is going to be for real. It will just take them some time. They took spurs out of the game that second half. 200 more passes attempted. And spurs misfired in more passed than city. That type of possession will kill off loads of results. It saved them that draw
