TRANSFER TALK

Are Spurs about to make a move for Ashley Young?

Physical representation of a ‘come and get me plea’

‘Playing like a man with a transfer request in his socks’, was how The Spoiler described Aston Villa‘s Ashley Young last night, and it appears we weren’t too far off the mark.

Rumours are circulating this lunchtime that Harry Redknapp is about to jump in with an official approach for the 25-year-old in the next few days.

The timing won’t surprise anybody – Spurs’ Big Cup welcome party coincided with Villa flopping out of the Europa League – plus, with Milner out the door and no manager around, Young is likely to be more receptive to a move now than at any point in his four year Villa career.

However, the numbers, as reported by Mirror Football, might make Spurs fans slightly less enthused about the deal. Villa are rumoured to want about £25m for Young (keep in mind the amount Milner went for and the time left for negotiation) and Young may want an advance on his £65,000 p/w salary, which would throw Tottenham’s infamous wage cap into a spin.

So, should Spurs fans be happy about throwing that sort of coin at arrogance-powered Ashley Young? Let’s be honest, he does have the whiff of a ‘rich man’s David Bentley’ about him.

What am I hearing here? You made no negative remarks about Milner who has only always thought about money, and has shown no loyalty to any club. Young has been at villa twice as long as milner was there and has not asked to be sold as milner did.
Is this an issue with young because of his race?

No thanks , we dont want a player of Youngs calibre at the lane, he is ok for Villa, but he will never do the business at the highest level. just another one of those who never fulfill their potential. just look at Jenas andsee what I mean.Spurs should be looking for a world class player to bring the team to a higher level. Im not too sure Harry Redknapp is a good scout, he tried to get in David James and Matt Upson who are both dismal players anfd let us not forget his fawning over Kenwynne Jones . does that send any more Spurs fans mad or what??

Because the only time players get criticised for wanting a transfer are if they are FOREIGN or BLACK!
    SIMPLE AS THAT!
Did the writer of this artcle ever critisise Milner or Bellamy or Barry or any other WHITE british player who has demanded a move or gone looking for more money? NO!

Villa and Liverpool have turned into selling clubs. This for me is incredible. I was around when the spoiler had a Spurs Relegation Predictor. HAHAHAHA. Dig that one out again for old time sake Spoiler.

Anyways, We already have Bale, Kranjcar and Modric who can play where Young does. No need for him. I’d rather we get in Luis Fabiano cause we cannot rely on Keane. He’s a hot and cold.

I agree with pablo guyspur . . . players of african decent seem to get the short end of the stick when it comes to publicity. supposedly didier drogba is the biggest twat ever but wayne rooney can carry on like he does and it gets labelled as “competitiveness”
