Gordon Strachan looks to Johnny Rotten for inspiration
Rotten/Lydon – punk rock’s Olly Murs
For a whole generation, John Lydon is just some weird old butter salesman who once said the unspeakable ”C” word on I’m a Celebrity… sending Ant and Dec into a blind hysterical bed wetting panic.
But to Gordon Strachan, and those old enough to remember, he was once a magnificent, sneering pop idol. And, kind of a prophet.
As it happens, a recent visit to a PiL ”gig” – presumably donning a safety pin through his nose to fit in – has had quite an affect on Boro’s flame-haired dynamo.
As reported in The Daily Mirror, he said this:
“Anger is an Energy. I saw Public Image Ltd a couple of weeks ago. That’s what reminded me. I like that. It is true. We fell away in the second half at QPR and that is a problem we have to deal with.”
“I hope we are angry because anger IS an energy, as Lydon said. We are angry with ourselves – there is no one else to blame.”
Here’s what he’s on about…
