Kevin Davies get England Euro 2012 qualifier call-up

Super Kev, backing into defenders on the international stage?

After 17 years in the professional game, burly Bolton striker Kevin Davies has finally got his chance to win an England cap, after being named in Fabio Capello’s squad to face Montenegro in the last Euro 2012 qualifier of the year next Wednesday.

There are probably less baffling inclusions than usual, other than Shaun Wright-Phillips continued association with the national setup, however, it still looks like a list fairly devoid of form.

Hart, A. Cole, A. Johnson, Huddlestone, Wilshere and Bent all jump out as being on a recent roll – but then only two of those are assured to start.

What do you reckon? Should Andy Carroll been given the nod?

Goalkeepers: Robert Green (West Ham) Ben Foster (Birmingham) Joe Hart (Manchester City).

Defenders: Ashley Cole (Chelsea), Phil Jagielka (Everton), Glen Johnson (Liverpool), Rio Ferdinand (Manchester United), Joleon Lescott (Manchester City), John Terry (Chelsea), Stephen Warnock (Aston Villa).

Midfielders: Gareth Barry (Manchester City), Joe Cole (Liverpool), Steven Gerrard (Liverpool), Tom Huddlestone (Tottenham),Adam Johnson (Manchester City), Aaron Lennon (Tottenham), Jack Wilshere (Arsenal), Shaun Wright-Phillips (Manchester City), Ashley Young (Aston Villa).

Strikers: Darren Bent (Sunderland), Peter Crouch (Tottenham), Kevin Davies (Bolton), Wayne Rooney (Manchester United).

Green, nuff said, Foster not good enough,
Johnson, stick him on the wing he can’t defend, Rio, gimme a break, Lescott, has he played yet this year? SWP ah come on, Davies yeah, why not? Bent, he’s earned it, Rooney, not now… the rest are OK. Is that what we’re down to… just OK?

I just hope all of the players who represented us in the world cup simply realise that they were not good enough and should never play for england again. Germany took the piss and its time for a fresh start.
I would give my right B*llock to put an england shirt on and play for my country, shame these idle f*ckers didnt. They were a disgrace!

    Come on Stoke :D

    And also i totally agree..
Half of the players listed are not good enough to play for England. we are shit lets face it and it’s only gonna get worse with the amount of foreign players that the F.A let play over here. Our youth policy is crap, the amount of missed talent that has been dismissed locally is a crying shame for us as English people..
Shame on you F.A go and f*ck yourselfs and another thing… Get Harry Redknap in charge and stop f*cking about! Get rid of that Ita;lian dreamer FFS
