David Sullivan fears ‘civil unrest’ if Spurs gazump West Ham’s Olympic Stadium bid
Seriously, he actually reckons there’s going to be a riot.
Despite having plans for their redevelopment of White Hart Lane accepted by local council, Tottenham Hotspur have been making increasingly loud noises about possibly dossing at the newly built Olympic Stadium, down the road in Stratford, should things fall through.
However, West Ham have had their eye on the same site for over a year already, prompting owner David Sullivan to today warn Spurs: “come anywhere near our manor and my lot’ll stripe ya!” before bowling off down Green Street on the hunt for some jellied eels.
Says Sullivan:
It would be such a slap in the face to east London. If it happens, there will be real problems that could easily lead to civil unrest. I think there could be riots, such is the ill feeling between West Ham and Spurs and I know the police feel the same.
We’re not convinced either set of fans even want the Olympic Stadium in the first place, let alone be prepared to riot over it. Anyway, he continues:
I feel very let down by Tottenham. The way they do business is not right. They pinched Eidur Gudjohnsen off us after we brought him from Barcelona for talks. He just disappeared from the hotel. And the way they unsettled Scott Parker was appalling.
Now they want to move into our borough of Newham. How would they like it if we suddenly set up a new home in Haringey. I’m flabbergasted by the cheek of it.
What do you reckon – are Spurs unnecessarily throwing their weight about? Or is Sullivan bleating about a pipe dream?

Idiot – Why does he have such a chip on his shoulder? If West Ham have the better bid they will win.
I don’t think such paranoid bleating would enhance the chance of anyone in business, wanting to work witth him.

Spurs are covering all their bases, they dont really want the ‘Sportstrack stadium’, but its just a backup in case some higherups veto the new stadium plan.
Personally i hope spurs get their plans approved
I’m sure West Ham fans feel between a rock and a hard place, nobody ever wants to leave a stadium, but they need to expand capacity to compete. Also, who wants a running track around their pitch?
