Gazza turns down Garforth Town job
Troubled legend was on the brink of taking over non-league side
The Daily Mail are reporting Paul Gascoigne has turned down his chance to return to management with Garforth Town.
Gazza had been expected to join the Evo Stik First Division North club since an announcement was made last Monday, with the England legend claiming he ‘couldn’t wait to get started’. However, it appears he’s since had a change of heart.
According to the Mail, Gascoigne and the club have ‘been unable to reach an agreement’ over his tenure, despite initial claims a deal had already been wrapped up. The actual contract signing was reportedly delayed by a week at Gazza’s request.
The 43-year-old’s previous management history has been equally dodgy, having been released after just 39 days at Kettering Town, spending two months at Algarve United without ever actually signing a contract and ditching Chinese club Gansu Tianma three months into a nine month deal.
