Robbie Fowler manages to convince Perth Glory they could sign Wayne Rooney

Almost as funny as that time he sniffed the touchline

Strange to think it was only three years ago Robbie Fowler rocked up at Liverpool for the second time.

Anyway, after a few shorts stints in England, he’s since been plying his trade Down Under… and been having a whale of a time winding up the locals by the sounds of it.

Asked for his thoughts on Wayne Rooney’s saga at Man Utd, The Premiership’s Most Natural Finisher [(c) everyone c. 1997] told current club Perth Glory‘s website:

It’s probably only just come out lately about Wayne Rooney (wanting to leave) but being in the football know, I found out a couple of weeks ago

So I just had to go home and see whether he would be interested in coming to Perth. And the signs were good. Really pleased with the chat we had and we’ll see where it takes us.

He’s very, very interested. I told him what a lovely place it is. I told him everything about the city. So he’s umming and ahhing at the minute, but it’s looking good.

After which Fowler dislodged his tongue from his cheek.

However, it seems Perth Glory deputy chairman Lui Giuliani got slightly carried away with the exciting proposition of Roon turning out in his team’s shirt, earnestly adding:

Well, if and it’s a big ‘if’ Wayne Rooney was out of contract and Robbie Fowler could pull some strings, we would love to have him at Perth Glory even as a guest.

Erm; wouldn’t hold your breath, Lui.

Brilliant. So Rooney will be playing for Perth. From MU to Perth Glory…the ideal career path for a footballer.

I hope he knows there is no first class seats between Perth and anywhere else in australia
