Robert Pires in talks with Crawley Town!
Yes, THIS Robert Pires
Arsene Wenger recently said he’d take 36-year-old ex-Gunner Robert Pires back in a heartbeat, if it wasn’t for Arsenal’s rigid wage structure.
His loss appears to be non-league Crawley Town‘s gain, because the BBC are reporting Rob is in talks to turn out for the Sussex club.
Conference side Crawley are halfway through ‘Project Promotion’ which is apparently a euphemistic codename for ‘Attempt to buy the league’, and BBC Sussex understands they’ve been in contact with the soul-patched winger – currently keeping busy by training with Arsenal – to play some part in the season.
The Red Devils reportedly splashed out a non-league record £250k for York striker Richard Brodie this summer, so the money’s there… it’s just a matter of whether Pires wants to pocket it.
