Salmanca’s Miguel Garcia has heart attack during match

Midfielder collapsed an hour into Real Betis game

Miguel Garcia, a midfielder for Segunda Divsion side Salmanca, is recovering in hospital today after suffering a suspected heart attack during a match against Real Betis on Sunday.

Doctors spent over five minutes attempting to resuscitate Garcia on the pitch when the 31-year-old collapsed an hour into the game.

Mercifully, after undergoing tests at Salmanca University Hospital his status last night was reported to be ‘favourable’.

Oops…I should clarify on my above comment…

I wonder how many elite atheletes who were STILL competing had heart attacks …either on ice..on pitch…in training…etc.

(I’m sure many athletes have had heart attacks after they’ve retired from the sport.)

    @ Sophie Stepover

How about a list of players that haven’t had heart attacks?
