STICKS N' STONES

Rafa Benitez has a pop at clueless Roy Hodgson

Featuring flips, flops, priests and sugar mountains

Rafa Benitez has fired a stinging attack at under-pressure Liverpool boss Roy Hodgson, claiming he ‘doesn’t understand.’

Rafael told press ahead of Inter’s clash with Tottenham at White Hart Lane tonight:

Every single press conference is worse than the last one. He’s talking about things he doesn’t know.

Some people cannot see a priest on a mountain of sugar. He doesn’t understand, maybe he has been in the job for not so long.

When I was in charge we gave the fans the pride. We fought for the fans, we fought for the club and we fought for our players. Maybe he cannot understand this.

Ooooooh. Are you gonna take that Roy? Don’t have it mate, etc.

Benitez’ slightly cryptic diss was in response to a jab Hodgson threw last month about Rafa’s alleged handling of Liverpool icon Kenny Dalglish:

I always said to Kenny when it was mooted that Liverpool wanted me for the job that, if I got it, he would be very much on board with me.

It won’t be the question it was with Benitez that you are here in name but you are never allowed to set foot in Melwood – and basically we don’t want anything to do with you.

Quite an unnecessary thing to say, I think you’ll agree, and enough to make Rafa continue on his withering rant:

I brought back Kenny Dalglish to do a role in the club. It was [managing director] Christian Purslow that gave him another role. So [Hodgson] doesn’t know but I will explain to him.

Instead of talking about the flips and the flops, he has to concentrate on his players and do his best. He has a big job to do.

He signed nine players. I left that squad with £10m net spending, I left that squad with £300m value. Thirteen internationals.

So instead of talking about flips and flops, he has to concentrate on the job, try to do his best and not talk about the level of his players.

Let the new players come in and concentrate, try to do their best, because it will be the best for the clubs and the best for the fans.

Schooled. Rafa 1 Woy 0?

Stop sticking up for clueless Hodgson. Rafa has it spot on Hodgson wouldn’t even have a go at Old Red Nose when he dissed Torres. But then they are mates and he wants Fergies job when he retires LOL
