Ian Wright banned from Manchester City

SWP’s dad can’t meet him at the school gates anymore

Ian Wright

Manchester City chief exec Garry Cook has barred Ian Wright from Eastlands, after growing tired of the loudmouth pundit continually having a pop at the club.

According to the Mirror, Wright is claiming City have banned him from having any contact with the team, including having players appear on his Absolute radio talkshow.

The ex-Arsenal striker has regularly criticised City over Shaun Wright-Phillips’ protracted contract negotiations, claiming in March they were ‘mugging him off’ - by refusing to pay him any more than £60,000 p/w (*sigh*)

Wrighty has since had a go at Nigel de Jong about the Dutchman’s leg-breaking tackle on Hatem Ben Arfa, pilloried City over their treament of Craig Bellamy, and most recently questioned Roberto Mancini’s use of Carlos Tevez – all of which appears to have been too much for the City hierarchy to stomach.

City are really getting their act together on and off the field. This idiot should be banned from every football ground in the county. Banning him from radio and TV wouldn’t be a bad idea either. Great footballer but just an all round embarrassment these days.

Richly deserved by this egocentric mischief-making busybody who has exhausted the patience of club and fans alike.
Not sure what good banning does, though, except the adverse media comment that will undoubtedly follow is sure to bind the components in the club – administration/management/players/fans even closer together.
In football a siege mentality usually produces results – remember how successful ‘dirty Leeds’ and ‘Boring, boring Arsenal’ were?
Slag off Manchester City at your peril.

Aren’t we only following again as the BBC banned him from motd ages ago. Not least for his love in’s on SWP’s performances !! Should have a rule really not to allow you to comment on family members performances. Sky seem to follow that path with Jamie very rarely managing to mention “Dad” and at least when he does it is sensible unlike IW. How he gets away with the “mugging off” comment. From what is said in the fanzine’s even SWP wouldn’t go on the show his Dad does. SWP played well in the last Europa league game trying to show on the pitch why he is worth a contract and keeping his mouth shut at the same time – good lad.

Good job, City. Why not ban everyone who has a pop at you? Ooops! Just realised that means every pundit, newspaper, radio and television football programme in Britain (not to mention the punters).

Don’t believe everything you’re told in life.

You can have that pearl of wisdom for free.

    PS, you’re still barred.
