Guti arrested after crashing into a bus, five times over the drink-drive limit
Effete Besiktas midfielder goes on booze-powered joyride
Guti, the dainty ex-Real Madrid playmaker bafflingly plying his trade in the rugged lunatic asylum that is Turkish Super Lig, has been slapped with a € 270 fine and banned from driving for 6 months after drunkenly bouncing his Range Rover all over the streets of Istanbul.
The 34-year-old – who claims to have been sober as a judge when the video above was taken - was driving on the wrong side of the road when he piled into a bus at 4am on Monday morning.
According to local reports, after initially refusing a breathalyser test he was found five times over the legal limit.
However, on hearing the news, Besiktas manager and apparent amateur toxicologist Bernd Schuster poo-pooed the results, claiming it was ‘impossible’ for the midfielder to have been that pissed. He told press:
At 0.27 [the % level of blood alcohol content Guti reportedly had in his bloodstream] a person can’t stand, let alone drive. This is outrageous.
Meanwhile, club president Yildrim Demirönen commended the midfielder for being a ‘great professional’ - because he still managed to turn up on time for training the next day.
