Seriously, shouldnt he just STFU for a while?

He was the captain on the football titanic this summer and by definition the loser of the year. He was the leader of this team and that will be his epitaph: loser, quitter, coward.

In France, the conditioning coach who wanted to beat Evra up in SA said it best to sum up the thought process of someone who wants to lead but has neither the knowhow or finesse to be a leader.

Lots of french players should keep their heads down and mouths shut for their part in this summers embarassment.
THE LEADER OF that group should do well to keep his loser mouth shut because it will only serve to remind people WHO he really is.

Besides, his teams best player has already stated that United is drifting and running on fumes. When Giggs and red leave, they will not only be more talentless but lacking leadership.
I mean, its not like anyone expects the king of quitters to lead.

The whole planet saw what happens when Evra leads

Stay quiet and people wont refer to you as 'World Cup failure and goat Patrice Evra.'

Losers dont get an opinion.

@Thomas,

I forgot to respond to your second question.

I'm referring to the strong midfielders that were supporting Fabregas that got picked off a few years back. They were not stars but they were strong and competitive players that did their job so that Fabregas was free to roam at will.

I'm thinking of Flamini and Hleb. When they left it took a couple of seasons to replace them.

Thierry Henry was a strong and aggressive striker up front he left for more money. Before him there was Viera and Pries. The strong back four they had in the early 2000's were never replaced with quality that equaled them. They tend to get farmed off to other clubs that pay better.

Eventually Fabregas will leave if Arsenal does not grow some balls. How can a back four fall apart just because Vermalen is injured? This should not be the case. Sometimes you have to give something to get something and in this case I think it is better salaries for better, experienced players.

@Thomas,

I'm not talking about doing what Chelsea or Manchester City did. That is the other extreme. I'm talking about mixing more experienced players in with the younger players. Veterans with leadership skills that can show the kids how to be competitive.

Arsenal needs a couple of veteran defenders and if not a veteran goalie, possibly an aggressive and ambitious goalie like a Joe Hart.

But those types of players cost more money that Wenger is willing to spend. Thus my earlier statement about spending more money.

Talent is not enough to be successful. Wisdom and experience and a competitive mentality is also needed to be successful. We all know the guys are talented, but outside of Van Persie and Fabregas, there is not much leadership there. And certainly there is not a lot of competitive drive.

If Wenger can't teach that them this, then he needs to mix some proven veterans into that squad to lead by example or Arsenal will continue to struggle to win hardware.

@Josie Interesting theory. You think if they "opened up the checkbook" that they would simply become a better team by filling gaps here and there?

Ask City how that's worked for them.

Who exactly has left Arsenal to have a much bigger career somewhere else(A. Cole and Anelka are debatable simply due to last season's double)?

I'm an Arsenal fan and I must say that there is some truth to Evra's hyperbole. Sometimes I feel like Arsenal is a training center for Barcelona, Real Madrid and other large clubs that play similar football to Arsenal.

I have heard that the Arsenal club has become more solvent due to their conservative spending habits surrounding players.

Maybe if the club would loosen their pocketbooks they can prove Evra wrong. Until then, even though I think that Evra is being melodramatic, there is some truth to his premise.

surprised the french tv channels even bother to talk to him after his 'displays' at the world cup. that is more of a crisis and something to be remembered for in 10 years than anything going on at arsenal at the moment.

"...even if we know Arsenal are a great team who can beat Chelsea, us or anyone."

So, what is he on about, again? Brilliant way to end the thought, Evra. I suppose he's not being paid to think.
