The Big Question

Who’s more important to Barca, Xavi or Iniesta?

Head to head

Xavi and Iniesta

An almighty barney has erupted in the Spoiler offices – put down to a combination of too much morning sherry, and a lack of Christmas shopping done. One half of the office has been shouting the name “Iniesta” over and over again until it doesn’t make sense anymore, whilst the rest have been pressing knives to people throats, sternly whispering “Xavi”.

So, in a bid to settle things, you decide… let us know with a vote and a comment.

I reckon that Xavi is more important. He gives Barça the pace and rhythm to play, and when he’s not in the pitch the whole team feels it. Iniesta is more talented, but he is not a playmaker. And Barça play as the playmaker play, at least now.

I agree with The Disruptive. Although I believe talent also comprises master-composure and cold bloodiness.

“As you have not touched the ball all night, you can have it for a while.”

Xavi was quoted to have said to Real Madrid’s Lass Diarra in the aftermath of the 5-0 drubbing that Barca gave.

I believe that Xavi is more important in Barca’s game at the present moment. But he’s 30 and there will come a time where Iniesta will have to take over Xavi’s play-making role. But as they play in different places in the midfield, I gues they both have the edge in their respective positions.

They are 1a and 1b, they are football twins who were separated at birth and reunited again at la Masia and Barça.

You cant compare both as they play different role.
Listen up,Xavi dictates the game, iniesta create more torment on defender. Or do you think Inter would have won the match against barca if iniesta was fit? One more thing, i have seen where Xavi was marked out,Messi was also marked out but you cant shut iniesta out of a game.

They are the yin and yang of football… one cannot fully exist without the other, and the presence of Messi is the one to bring it all together… for it is the holy trinity of football… as propehised by the almighty Johan Cryuff. The Abraham of Barcelona.
