Man United eye up Ashley Young, and other transfers…
Big night tonight. All over the country, shirts will be ironed, hair gelled and fashioned into a hot collection of clumps pointing in various different directions, and half of the planet will fall foul of drinking shots far too early. The rest of us will, of course, be sipping port and half-enjoying whichever former Comic Strip Presents… actor has been short strawed into butchering a song on Jools Holland.
Merry New Year everyone! Here’s some of the last transfer news that you’ll read in 2010, thanks to all of the top newspapers in the land…
Despite Fergie’s New Year rants about not spending any money in January, whispers have been doing the rounds that Ashley Young may yet swap the thrilling sight of Spaghetti Junction for the charcoal skies of Manchester. They’re lining up a £15million swoop, which will come as something of a Kung Fu swipe in the knickers to the Anfield boardroom who’d been sexting Young for months.
The Villa wings could be further shorn of decent service with rumours abound that Stewart Downing could yet be Sunderland-bound.
In other news of England wingers who didn’t quite live up to the early promise, David Bentley’s slow career decline has lead him to a link with joining Birmingham. The word on the street is that he could be sharing a lift with Robbie Keane.
And in a preposterous money update, Benfica have told Chelsea that it’ll take around £43million to prize David Luiz from their bloodied fist.
That is all.
