Back Seat Management

Do Avram Grant’s job for him – pick YOUR West Ham XI

Grab a pen, Avram!

West Ham

After yesterday’s impressive performance from back seat Liverpool managers, today it’s the turn of West Ham fans to take a bit of heat off Avram Grant by doing his job for him. Our resident Hammers fan had this to say:

Bit awkward to do this with West Ham because I don’t think Avram is doing that much wrong. He’s inherited a crap squad that had already struggled for over a year and whatever team you field, they’re not great.

The main problem is the absence of any width whatsoever – against Newcastle we had to play centre backs at left back and right back (Gabbidon and Ben Haim), a central midfielder on the left wing (Noble) and a recently converted striker at right wing (Sears).

That’s why I’ve gone with the four central midfielders in my team. Most West Ham fans would probably disagree with picking Cole over Piquionne - a decision which I’ve probably made as a reaction to how awful Piq was at Newcastle. I’ve also worked on the assumption that Behrami is almost certainly off.

Of the above, Hitzlsperger is yet to debut having got injured playing for Germany days before the start of the season – he’s due back in a month or so. Dyer was looking really good at the start of the season before injury caught up with him (again!) while Collison has also been out injured all season but is expected back soon.

Now do yours…
