Mr Forgetful

Jermaine Pennant leaves his Porsche at a train station

If ever the story was in the headline, then this is it. But to expand on it slightly, as reported on Marca, Jermaine Pennant left his shiny Porsche at Zaragoza train station about five or so months ago, signed for Stoke, and had to be called to be reminded that it was there.

He’d totally forgotten about it/thrown it away.

Are footballers paid too much?

I once left my Oyster card on the Bakerloo line, went home to my flat in London, and forgot about it until someone sent it to my parents’ address in the US.

Yeah….not the same is it? Damn.

When I saw the name Jermaine Pennant, I wasn’t shocked in the least. I was more shocked to see that he’s still making money playing football.

I think the real story isn’t that footballers are rich and thick (Dog Bites Man), it’s that a footballer took a train. Very democratic of him. Perhaps abandoning the Porsche for a train (and my beloved Stoke) signified a new, humbler approach to life.
